Creating Magical Holiday Memories

It started over 15 years ago when my thought was to give my children a magical Christmas memory—a visit with Santa Claus. If I was going to do it, then I was going to do it right. So, I purchased a full-fledged Santa costume to dress the part. I practiced different voices to get the right amount of kindness and joviality. I still remember the wonder and excitement in my young son’s eyes when Santa appeared in the room. He didn’t recognize Dad in the costume; he just saw Santa Claus. What started as a desire to give my children magical Christmas memories turned into annual Christmas party experiences for friends and family.

Over time my kids had grown, and the Santa suit went unused. But a part of me missed giving children that magical experience of belief. There is something truly special about seeing a child’s face light up when they meet Santa for the first time. So, I broke out the Santa suit and this time I committed with a real beard. Being a real-bearded Santa makes the experience feel a little more authentic. However, I believe the beard is only part of the story. It's the person behind the beard who brings Santa to life. I want every family I meet to feel like they've spent time with their Santa—someone who is genuinely happy to be there, who takes the time to listen, share a laugh, give a hug, and make their visit feel special.

Santa isn't just for children. Santa is about family, tradition, memories, and believing that the world can be a better place.  I consider it a privilege to be part of people's holiday traditions and to help create memories they may look back on years from now with a smile. If I can bring a little more joy, kindness, laughter, and magic to someone's Christmas, then I can't imagine a better way to spend the holiday season.  Because that's what being Santa is really about.
